What are fur stools?
Seating is an absolute must in every household. But have you ever thought about upgrading your house with a fur stool instead of using usual chairs?
Fur stools are stools that are characterized by their surface covered with sheepskin. Due to the cozy and shiny sheepskin, the sheepskin stools are trendy and comfortable pieces of furniture, particularly popular with those who want to make their living space both cozy and modern. Fur stools are probably one of the best ways to combine luxury and comfort in your living environment.
Why choose a fur stool?
Fur stools offer many advantages over conventional seating options. They combine comfort and practicality, making them an absolutely versatile decorative element. Thanks to the soft and fluffy sheepskin, fur stools offer the best possible seating comfort, not only at the dining room table, but also in all other living rooms. As a stylish accent, fur stools adapt to the living environment in any room and skillfully enhance your rooms.
Product overview
Not all fur stools are the same. There are many different types and designs of fur stools. The fur material alone brings with it major visual and qualitative differences.
Basically there are fur stool variants from sheepskin, faux fur, cowhide to exotic fur.
We use real sheepskin for our fur stools and would like to tell you the 6 most important advantages of real sheepskin over other furs.
1. Sheepskin is gentler on the skin and cozier than most other furs, providing an exceptionally soft sitting experience.
2. Sheepskin has a temperature-regulating effect. Sheepskin keeps you comfortably warm, especially in winter, while it can have a cooling effect in summer.
3. Sheepskin has hypoallergenic properties, making it ideal for a household with allergy sufferers.
4. Sheepskin is particularly easy to care for and is often more durable than other furs.
5. Sheepskin is dirt and moisture repellent.
6. Sheepskin is sustainable because it can often be used for many years without loss of quality and is ecologically degradable.
Real fur vs. Faux fur
If you have decided to choose a sheepskin stool, you should consider whether you prefer a fur stool with real fur or faux fur, because faux fur and real fur differ in many ways.
Optics
If you compare faux fur and real sheepskin directly, the visual differences are immediately noticeable. Real fur has a denser fur structure than artificial fur. In addition, faux fur often appears relatively matt, while real sheepskin has a shiny appearance. The visual differences are due to the fact that real sheepskin brings its beloved properties, such as shine and fur density, from nature, while synthetically produced artificial fur fibers have difficulty imitating these natural advantages. In addition, if you compare them more closely, you can see that the material on the back of the two skins is different. The back of sheepskins is usually made of leather, while the back of faux fur is made of artificially woven fabrics.
Haptics
Sheepskin also differs from artificial fur in terms of feel. Real fur fibers are significantly stronger, but at the same time much softer and fluffier than artificial fur fibers. This offers the advantage that sheepskins are more robust and often more durable than synthetically produced skins with a higher cuddly factor.
Care
There are also some differences to consider when it comes to care, which can be attributed to the composition of the skins. Unlike faux fur, real sheepskin contains lanolin. Lanolin is a fatty substance that coats the sheepskin like a protective film, giving it self-cleaning and dirt-repellent properties. These properties make real sheepskin particularly easy to care for, so regular brushing, shaking and airing are usually sufficient to care for real sheepskin.
Faux fur, on the other hand, does not contain natural lanolin and therefore does not have any dirt-repellent or self-cleaning properties. This makes it much easier for dirt and dust items to build up in the faux fur, meaning faux fur needs to be cleaned more frequently than real sheepskin. Basically, you should also brush, shake and air out faux fur regularly so that you can cuddle with your fur for as long as possible.
Care and maintenance
Once you have decided on a fur stool, the question arises as to how you can optimally care for it in order to preserve its longevity and beautiful appearance.
As already mentioned before, sheepskin has a dirt-repellent function, which makes sheepskins quite easy to care for. The type of sheepskin care is much more important than the frequency. In principle, it is sufficient if you brush out the sheepskin of your fur stool regularly, shake it up and, if necessary, dry it. air out When airing out outside, you should definitely protect the fur from direct sunlight and rain. To brush the sheepskin as gently and gently as possible, you should only use special sheepskin or wool brushes.
If you accidentally spill something on your sheepskin, you should try to immediately remove the fresh stain by gently dabbing it with a damp towel. Be careful not to use too much water. If the stain cannot be removed with water, you can use a mild cleaning agent. Special wool detergents are best suited as they clean the natural fibers of your sheepskin as gently as possible and provide additional care. To prevent the sheepskin of your fur stool from becoming brittle or matted, you should not use hot water when cleaning, but rather cold to lukewarm water.
When caring for your fur stool, the basic rule is: “Less is more.“If you follow this principle, your fur stool will comfortably decorate your home with its velvety fur for many years and set a trendy accent.
